Hi all, I purchased an Alienware that shipped with XP Media Edition with a
coupon for the Vista Home Premium upgrade which I have installed once it came
out. Now I would like to upgrade to Ultimate. I see 3 ways to go.
1) purchase a license and have a anytime upgrade disc sent out at 159.00
2) purchase a upgrade ultimate disc at 259.00
3) purchase the retail disc
Has anyone done this upgrade after installing a manufacturers OEM upgrade
and which one of the 3 ways would be the correct one.
Thanks

Number would be your choice, and yes you can upgrade from Vista Home Premium
(OEM) to Ultimate and it will preserve your personal files and settings.

You wont need the ultimate unless your doing alot of office work I would
imagine. Besides that I will never buy another comp from Alienware, if you
have had good luck then great but my 2500k Alienware sucks and is slow as
crap.

Hey, its the users decision to go Ultimate, not mine and Vista Ultimate is
more of a multimedia OS than a Business OS such as the Vista Business SKU.
Vista Ultimate combines the best of both Vista Home Premium and Enterprise
for persons working in modes (work/home).

NOw now guys, I only want it for dream scenes. Someone had a patch that
would give any version this feature, but microsoft put the brakes on that
real fast. Anyway Andre your 1st post left out the (#) of the version you
said I should choose, I am assuming you chose #1. So far so good with this
alienware it is number 2 and the 1st was no bargain. Thanks for your input

In case he's not around to answer for himself, I think Andre was saying that
the number you choose is up to you.
He wasn't trying to tell you that a specific option number was the way you
should go. He said, "Number would be your choice."

I meant Number 1 - Vista Ultimate would be your choice (Anytime Upgrade)
sorry.
