Hi,
So today i updated my HP pavilion's windows XP system
with the following via the window update site:
329170:security update, 811630: critical update (windows
xp), Q329048: security update, 817787: security update
windows media player for xp, 331953: security update
(windows xp), 814078: security update (microsoft jscript
version 5.6, windows 2000, windows xp), and security
update for windows XP (kb824146).
I am not the most computer savy to say the least. I just
updated what the windows update site told me was
critical. I restarted my computer and tried to use
internet explorer 6.0. I typed in a search and the page
became unresponsive. The little hour glass appeared and
the page said it was done but no results were produced.
Though i noticed if i put in a site in the address bar it
would go to that page. I tried my other browser Netscape
navigator 7.0 and it still works fine. I know it
probably/definitly has something to do with the updating
causing some sort of incompatibility/error in explorer.
But I don't know what it is. I also don't know how to
remove the updates i installed or control them in anyway
in fact i don't even know where they are on my computer!
Please if anybody knows how to help i would greatly
apperciate it!
sincerely,
Charleen Hamill

Try just clicking on the refresh screen. You may have inadvertlently gone to
work offlie mode.

Tried that but the screen is frozen, and the windows task
manager says that internet explorer is not responding.
Thanks anyway,
Charleen Hamill

Try reinstalling explorer!
the updates are listed on the add/remove program
and are listed by number, so you need to know those!
Good luck!
