Updating to IE 6 problems

Wendy

I have been using IE 6 with no problems for quite some
time. Due to an Outlook Express problem, I uninstalled IE
6 the other day and my machine went down to IE 5.

I am trying to update back to IE 6. I download the
update, when the box pops up that asks me if I want to
install, I say yes, but another box immediately pops up
and tells me that "Setup will exit, because a previous
install has pending work requiring a reboot. Restart to
comlete installation before running IE setup"

Well, I have rebooted over 50 times, deleted any IE 6 .exe
files downloaded, tried to download again and still get
the same message. This has happened repeatedly over two
days.

Can someone help me update to IE 6? I have noticed today,
when checking bank accounts and brokerage accounts online,
I cannot access the accounts now because they must have
security measures only available in IE 6.

Please help, if possible.

Thank you -

Still need help, Frank -

Thank you very much for responding to my question, Frank.

However, when I follow the steps outlined, I get a message
back that says "Cannot find the file 'msconfig' or one of
its components. Make sure the path and filename are
correct and that all required libraries are available."

Also, I have never used ME. I am using Win2000 Pro and it
is the only OS I have ever used on this machine.

Thanks again, but still need help -
