Updating Data

H

Harry Nash

I've encountered a strange occurance whereby, going into a
table and manually editing one of the entries the data
keeps reverting back to it's original entry.

The entry in question is the last name of a person spelled
Cotten

It was originally entered as Cotton

Trying to replace the "o" with an "e" results in it going
back to the spelling Cotton

However and here's what's peculiar, if I drop or change
any of the other letters in the Last Name it's is fine.

I have gone so far as to change it to Cot
Cott
Cotte
All of which have took. But when I add the n to the end of
the last name it automatically goes back to the spelling
Cotton.

On a hunch I tried removing spell check with no avail.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,
h.n.

AutoCorrect lists cotten as something to be replaced with cotton.

Tools>>Autocorrect Options - uncheck Replace text as you type

This is the AutoCorrect option, found in the Tools menu. You can delete the
entry which automatically changes 'cotten' to 'cotton'.

Or, if you want, you can turn off AutoCorrect for all the textboxes on your
form as follows:

1. Open the form in design view
2. Open the form's properties page
3. Immediately click on the TextBox icon in the ToolBox. The Property
sheet's caption will change to "Default Text Box".
4. Look for the "Allow Auto Correct" property
5. Set it to 'No'
