after assigning/delagating a task, it is then owned by
the delagetee. the original owner can no longer update
the task. only the delegatee can update the task with
notes. why is this and is it going to be fixed?

Ken,
How is this accomplished?
Does this require Exchange server?
How can the assignor delete completed tasks from his/her task list when they
are no longer the owner?

We do not have Exchange running yet.

You don't need Exchange but you do need to send everything related to
any updates using RTF format. If the original owner of the task set
the properties to be notified when the status changes or the task is
completed then updates are sent out automatically. Each user can set
to process such updates automatically which will be done when Outlook
isn't background processing anything. The updates are processed from
the Inbox of the recipient of the update. Such items must remain in
the default Tasks folder of the person assigned the task.

If the assignor sets the task to not be updated then once it's
assigned and accepted the original task should disappear from the
assignor's task list.
