Updates

Every morning I turn my pc on and I have automatic updates
everyday. They take seconds to download, but it's getting
a little annoying that this happens every morning. My
family uses automatic updates but never have them pop as
often as I do. Is there a reason for this and/or how can
I fix it?

If you are refering to Windows update. #1 Turn off Auto-
Update. Check your install history at the web site to see
if you are re-installing the same apps over and over.if
so,then follow these instructions...

1. Click on Start, then My Computer
2. Open your C drive
3. If this is an upgrade over Windows 2000, open the
WINNT folder. If not, open the WINDOWS folder.
4. Open the System32 folder
5. Right-click on the CatRoot2 folder and choose Rename
6. Rename the folder to CR2OLD. Make sure you hit Enter
after typing in the new name, so the changes can be saved.
7. Close all open windows and try the site again. Re-Boot.
If renaming the Catroot2 folder does not help, then I
suggest you to delete all copies of WUTemp folder as this
issue might also occur due to corrupt contents of WUTemp
folder. Please follow the steps as follows:

1. Click on Start/Search and then select All Files and
Folders
2. Type "wutemp" without the quotation marks
3. Make sure that the Look In option indicates "Local
Hard Drives".
4. Click the Search button
5. When the search is complete, delete all copies of the
WUTemp folder Re-Boot.

This information was given to me for a similar problem
from Microsoft tech.
