Microsoft Gump XP

Hey folks,

I'm getting this popup lately that's trying to direct me to a website
called www.updatenow.org..

It's saying something about a buffer overflow and that my operating
system (including a bunch of others) is prone to attack.

There is an 'ok' button on the window that it wants me to click.
There's not a chance I'm going to click it, but I still don't like
this popup thing annoying me.

Does anyone have any idea what it is?

For what it's worth, I've just reinstalled XP Pro and I have Norton AV
and Firewall running (both regularly updated) but this keeps coming
up.

This is a scam message advert getting in through a loophole . It aims
to pretend you have a problem and part you from money by pretending to
fix it. Any genuine fix would be free on Windows Update.

Be sure to put the firewall into action, and consider getting some free
popup stopping software - eg

Alex Nichol <[email protected]> asked "what's the sound
of one hand clapping?", and I said it's a bit like this:

I was under the impression that Norton's Firewall had a popup blocker
built in.. doesn't it?
