Updated to XP SR2 -- No Problems Experienced

I downloaded the IT SP2 release (WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.EXE) and
installed SR2 after getting the update to my Norton products. The
installation went smooth without any issues.

After re-booting this is what my computer is reporting.

After the update XP indicates Version 5.1 (Build
2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)
Outlook Express: 6.00.2900.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

Are these the proper references for a SR2 installation? I have seen
references to Build 2180 but am wondering where this is coming from since my
XP installation indicates Build 2600.

You have the latest build of the final release. I believe 2180 was a build of
the release candidate.

Hi

This is the correct value for Windows XP with SP2 RTM (build 2180)
installed.

It shows you that the *OS* build is 2600 (a SP installation will
not change this).

The xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 part means this:

This OS has SP2 installed, where the SP2 components were
compiled/linked at 9:58PM 2004-08-03.

That is correct. Read the number as being for major version of windows
5.1, build 2600 - meaning XP, then a service pack2 'rtm' of 2004 Aug 03
at 21:58 as the time of starting the build.

You can cross check by looking in Windows\system32 for kernel32.dll.
R-click, Properties, and the version there should be 5.1.2600.2180
