update protected cells

i hope I am posting in the correct forum.

I have a sheet in which I have 4 areas to enter data and at the end of each
area the rows and columns have running totals.

How do I protect and unprotect the sheet in order to update the cells that
carry the running total after each input is done?

The formulas in the protected cells will update as you enter new data so no need
to unprotect.

Are you having an issue with the formulas not updating?

Maybe you have calculation mode set to manual?
