update individual calendars with a master calendar

Parents need to update their personal Outlook calendars with events posted on
their kid's school calendar. Does Microsoft support updating individual
calendars with data from a master calendar? If not, why not? If Microsoft
already supports this capability, how do I learn more about it?

Updating Outlook calendars is more a feature offered by the calendar
provider and there are several ways the school can make it easy for the
parents to download the calendar and use it with outlook (or any other
calendar program).

If the calendar has *ics files associated with it, the parent can add them
to their calendar by clicking on the link. This works for many popular
calendars as ICS is a standard format.

If the school uses sharepoint calendars and the parents have outlook 2003,
they can subscribe to the calendar and it will update automatically. This
only works for Outlook 2003 though - not other calendars.
