[Update] Foxit PDF Reader 1.3 Build 0929

Foxit PDF Reader
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/

A free reader/viewer/printer for PDF documents.
Needs no installation and opens up immediately.

In this new build:

1) The "blue stripes" problem was (reportedly) fixed. We have never been
able to duplicate that problem, however we adjusted our codes we thought
caused that problem;

2) We improved performance when processing scanned black/white pages. For a
typical scanned page (B/W mode), it's more than 100% faster now;

3) We fixed a number of system resource leaking problem. The leaking had
caused some system unstability when Foxit Reader used for a long time;

4) Improved performance when processing ICC color profiles. This kind of
color profile is more and more commonly used in image-rich PDF nowadays.

Please download the latest build from "Download" section of Foxit Website.

The Pro version *beta* appears to be free as well.

"Foxit Reader Pro supports all features provided in Foxit Reader, and
more:
* Save comments and filled forms inputted with Typewriter feature;
* Select and copy text contents from PDF files even when other
applications fail to extract such information;
* Convert pages or whole file to pure text, so you can easily copy
and paste text contents;
* A new application: Foxit Library allows you to manage your PDF
files and browse them easily.
Just like Foxit Reader, the Pro version is still small, it starts up
immediately, and is very easy to use."

Has anyone tried this?

Does it expire? Time out?

Almost every feature that isn't in the free version is disabled - it's
a con to get free beta testers wihout giving them anything in return.

You forgot to include this part!!!! :

Foxit Reader Pro costs only US$39 for a single user license. You can
order it online now. Foxit provide free upgrade for one year after
your purchase.

Corporate site license and educational license will also be available
at very affordable price.

Steady on Mr Bloggs.
This is both ungracious and unjustified.

If almost every feature that is not in the free version is disabled,
we can't test them can we? I think you owe these people, who have
provided an excellent alternative to Acrobat, an apology.

No, it isn't. I actually had a quick look at it. Clearly you haven't.
The "free" beta version is crippleware. When you install it you see a
message:
This is an evaluation version with the following limitations:
1) When you save PDF file modified with Typewriter, an evaluation
watermark will be added to the first page.
2) You can not copy the text contents in Text View mode.
3) You can not save PDF file as text file.

Perhaps "it's a con to get free beta testers wihout giving them
anything in return".

I wouldn't call it "excellent" by any means. The last time I tried the
program...about 2 months back...it wouldn't open half my PDF files.

No, I didn't, you silly person. I was referring to a beta version,
which is free according to the website. Alas, it turned out to be free
crippleware. Please read before you reply!
