Update Calendar Programmatically

I would like to be able to update a calendar in my mailbox using data from a
calendar in a shared folder. Is this possible, and can someone help me get
started?

The devil is in the details, as they say, and we don't have a lot about your scenaro. What do you mean by "shared folder" and "update", precisely?
