After I installed GDI Security Update 925902, I got the print problem screen:
"Stop 0x0000007F". At the recommendation of Microsoft's support site, I
downloaded and ran XP-KB935843-x86-ENU.exe (update KB935843).

I run two printers off my XP-Home PC: Cannon iP4200 inkjet and an HP 3100
Laserjet. There is no problem with the Cannon, at all. Both printer's
"Print Preview" is fine.

I no longer get the "Stop" error but, my HP LaserJet 3100 will not print
text.

It WILL print graphics AND text from: HP's Jetsuite, Microsoft Paint,
PrintShop Label Creator, TIFF files from Microsoft Office Document Imaging,
and Internet Explorer 7.0 screen graphics only, but no text.

It will print only "inserted graphics" and NO text from all Office 2002
products, Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook. It will also not print PDF files,
Calyx files, Control Panel Printer Test Properties "Print Test Page", nor
from Control Panel Fonts "Print" - it will print horizontal lines where the
fonts should be.

It don't think that the HP Printer Driver is corrupted since I have full
communication with the printer (bi-directional) and it will priint something.

Has 925902 corrupted some Microsoft Office settings or general print
settings? Nothing seems to have changed with my HP printer settings.

Have you tried just getting the latest drivers from HP and seeing if that
resolves the issue?

Unfortunately - it looks like they do nbot make the drivers available by
download - only by ordering the CD.

"Version 179.5 or later of the product software is required for proper
functionality within Windows XP. The drivers and some of the product
software will not be available for download from the Web due to licensing
restrictions and size."

Shenan, thanks for the fast reply. Yes, I have HP's driver V2.0 Build 179.5
for XP installed. The HP LaserJet worked perfectly, for the last 5
years...until I installed Microsoft's Update 925902. I figure the Microsoft
Update corrupted something in Windows or Office.

Try uninstalling/installing the driver over...

Try whether this problem also occurs in safemode.I recommeded reinstalling
the printer to see whether reinstalling the printer resolves the problem.

I had hoped to not reinstall the HP driver, since it's poorly written
software that takes mulitiple times to install. It's been a major complaint
from Jetsuite users. I'm concerned about removing the hotfix 925902 because
I get a warning when I go to unistall that over 30 programs and hotfixes may
not operate correctly if I continue the install.

I had hoped someone knew how 925902 affected Office products when it comes
to printing.

Thanks.

Since you've already got the fix from KB935843 and it's not helping,
try getting the fix from: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/939884
