Presumably you got an .iso and didn't just burn the files. If that is
the case, just booting with the .iso should do it. However, since I
don't have a 64-bit processor and also have no interest in running
alpha software, I can't help you further. There must be groups devoted
to the 64-bit version (non-Itanium). You'd do better posting there.
Here's a list of all the MS newsgroups:

http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

If Microsoft doesn't have a newsgroup devoted to the non-Itanium 64-bit
version of XP, probably there is another Usenet group that does. Search
around. Also, you do understand that device mftrs. will have to write
64-bit drivers for their hardware, so you'll need to check on their
websites for all your hardware to see if they've done so yet.

Good luck,

booting a computer with an iso is not possible!
use either a burning program like nero or use iso buster
to unpack the files and then burn with either nero or the
built in xp burning option.

Oh I'm pretty certain that was the point Malke was making just didn't expand
on it quite enough.

If he downloaded it, it must be the beta of the version for the AMD
Opteron processor, not Intel Itanium. The Itanium version was released
many months ago.

Ahhh..that could be. I thought maybe he got it off a file sharing program.
It's easy to download the intel version.

What did the docs say that came with the program?

Thank you, Wojo. Of course I meant you need to burn as an .iso image,
not just copy the files. Then if the image supports it, as I would
assume an XP 64-bit os image would just like any Linux distro, the cd
will be bootable.
