I have this icon that keeps popping up whenever I log on
to the internet. It looks like the world with a
windows 'flag' in the upper left. The mouseover
description says something like "Downloading Updates X%
complete." I am sure it is a Windows update that I have
started but it is taking forever and slowing my
connection to snail proportions. I have looked all over
and cannot figure out how to stop it. Anyone have any
ideas on how to stop the download? I have tried right
click on the icon and the only thing that comes up on the
shortcut menu is "Pause", not stop or quit or anything.
Help! Please respond to my E- (e-mail address removed)

That's the Windows automatic update feature working. To disable it,
right click on My Computer icon, select Automatic Updates tab, turn it
off. Be sure you manually check frequently for critical updates. Folks
who didn't do that learned the hard way about the Blaster virus.

Thanks, I will try that. Hopefully, it will fix it for
me. I will post something t-row with an update.
