Apologies if this turns out to be a longer post than normal!

My father has given me his computer to fix (XP SP1 Pro/IE6 patched etc) as
it was acting up.

So I had a look and found a couple of things wrong that I fixed, such as:

a) the CPU fan wasnt working properly it at all (now replaced)
b) the computer was llosing track of time - motherboard battery replaced.

However, I have have two issues which I haven't come across before:

1. IE does not display web pages.

The task/title/address bars all show details of the new page and if ask to
see the source code its there.. - there is just no web page!

This problem is also affecting IE's help system (I can see the index but no
further details if I choose a topic) and System Restore - it just opens a
blank page

Anyone have any ideas?

2. I would be quite happy to delete/reformat if I could back up my fathers
files.

However, when I try and save/export his Outlook 2003 "contact list" as a
Excel spreadsheet I get the following errors:

----
Microsoft driver for Microsoft Access Installation problem - "Unable to load
msjter40.dll"

which leads too...

"The Microsoft Access Driver is out of memory"

and then

Translation Error
An ODBC error in thr Microsoft Excel translator while opening a file to
build a field map.
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager][Data Source Name not found and no default
driver specified]
-----

This all worked fine las week :(

Anyone have any ideas?

Regards
Sunil

Try searching hidden files and folders on the drive for
*.pst files.
save 'em to a disk (cd/floppy, depending, then take 'em
to another outlook and import them by browsing to the
files on the disk.
I've done it about twelve times, seems ok.

Good Luck.
PS: you may be even lucky enough to see them as
inbox.pst, etc.
