Unusual message from Acronis concerning why disk Director doesn't work

I have been trying for some time now to recover data from a 16 gig SD
card. Aronis had me buy their Disk Director to do this, principally it
seems because they have no phone support for customers to pester

The idea was that I should put the card in a USB reader and recover
the data off it that way. They tol dme htat this should work so long
as the volume on the USB reader is seen by the BIOS.

For a long time I couldn't figure out why the volume wasn't seen by
the software but I just discovered that there was a problem with the
reader itself and it wouldn't see ANY SD cards Suddenly when I report
that I have a proper reader, they tell me that DD doesn't support SD
cards and if I tell them what they had tol dme earlier, they start
just cutting and pasting their former messages into their responses to
me. This is beginning to sound like what Norton started to do when
their software stopped working!'

I can start the Gateway 340UI computer and get to a BOOT FROM screen
and see a(nother) normal USB drive but when I go into DD, suddenly
that USB isnt seen any more either! So somehow I doubt that it is
anything to do with the SD card being on the USB port

Does anyone know why this might be the case please? For recovery
purposes, is there any difference between data contained on a USB
drive and data contained in an SD card plugged into a USB reader
please? Disk Director jus doesnt see the drive at all.

Is it generally recognised that Acronis Disk Director doesnt work on
anything other than the simplest hard drive? I thought that there was
something I was doing wrong? Apparently not if Acronis cant identify
what it is?

No, that is not correct. Its pretty limited for RECOVERY tho.

Likely there is, but its all rather academic when its pretty limited for recovery of data.

I didnt bother with that aspect because its all rather
academic when its pretty limited for recovery of data.

I'm not arguing with you but in the past I have had pretty good
success with DD when I had lost data on my MAIN hard drive, It scans
what it sees and can recover whole partitions / lost data.

And now it says that it can read a USB drive. it is their support
people who insist it can't or don't know how it can.

(Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered posting on this group saying
something doesn't work 'cos lots of data recovery services dont work
and it isnt worthy of comment)
