For the last few days my Outlook is 'jittery', unstable.
Posts do not readily open and my typing lags.

I have done a restore and installed Outlook again, still the same.
I dont know if I am describing enough, but it just is not right.

What version of Outlook and what type of account? Is antivirus configured to
integrate with OutlooK?

It is Outlook 2007, pop/smtp account.
It has always run just fine with AVG, the problem only just started, nothing
has changed with either program. Yes,it is configured to work with it.

AVG is constantly changing, on a daily basis. Definition files are released
daily plus updates to the AV engine occur regularly. There's nothing static
about it.

Integrating AV with Outlook isn't recommended and it certainly doesn't
compromise your security any since your real time scanner will catch anything
it's been updated for.

Try stopping the AVG email scanning service temporarily to see if that
improves performance or not. If you don't disable the service, it will start
up as soon as you restart the PC or laptop.

In addition, check your Outlook Add Ins. You can disable them all, adding
them back one at a time to see which one may have caused the problem.

Kathleen, thanks....I did all of this, plus I have a back up a few feet away
with the EXACT same programs on and it is stable.
Now that I study the PC, the HD light,it flashes constantly and seems to be
causing the Outlook problem.
My husband has same PC, his isnt doing it.
Wonder what could be going on between the HD and Outlook?
ANY help would be appreciated.
Sue

Ensure Office 2007 is fully patched as well as the PC.

Solution 1: Rename or delete outcmd.dat, extend.dat, views.dat, the .srs
file, and
frmcache.dat. Outlook will recreate these files as needed. Do this while
Outlook is closed.

Solution 2: Create a new PST if you use one. Although the Outlook 2007 PST
is essentially identical to the PST format new to Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007
writes additional data to the PST.

Solution 3: Create a new profile. No need to delete the old profile just
yet, just make a new one to see if this resolves anything. If you upgraded
from an older version of Outlook, then it's highly recommended you create a
new profile.

Solution 4: Disable Outlook Setup Add-in (Cyberlink). This is the Instant
Office add-in on Dell computers that have Media Direct installed. This
add-in is responsible for converting meeting requests to recurring meetings.
If you're not using a Dell with Media Direct installed, this is not pertinent
for you.

Here is another thing that might slow Outlook down as well:

Instant messenger. The fix is to disable the link to Instant Messenger on
Outlook's Tools, Options, Other tab.

Thanks for all of your help, either it didnt work or did not apply to me.

Anyway I uninstalled Outlook, and reinstalled.
It seems to be stable now.

Sue

You're right, if you're not running a Dell with Media Direct then Solution 4
would not apply to you at all. Only the rest would.
