Unspecified error when sending email

When clicking on "send" an error box appears with the title microsoft word
and the text "unspecified error" . The message then does not send after
clicking on OK. No changes have been made to outlook or the rest of the PC.
It does not do this all the time either and there is nothing different about
the times when it does do it. Any suggestions much appreciated.

Please provide some further information:

1) Version of Outlook
2) Email environment (POP3, Exchange, etc.)
3) Do you use a PST? What size is it?
4) Any troubleshooting you have already performed
5) Have you checked your application event viewer for Outook specific errors?

This is not happening on my PC, I am trying to troubleshoot the problem on a
customer's PC.

1)Outlook 2003
2)POP3
3)will find this information out tomorrow as the user is not in today
4)Checked event logs, good old reboot didnt help, sent test messages but
these all sent fine. Only happens occasionally. The user reported the
problem a while ago but due to the vague nature of the error and lack of
details to go on we could not do a lot and asked the user to keep track of
when this error happened and if there were any similarities in the
situations when it happened but they say it does not happen very often and
there are no similarities.
5)No errors in the event log at all relating to outlook.

In answer to point 3, The user is using a PST which is around 400 meg, so
nowhere near maximum size.
