Unsent messages in outbox

I have had this problem intermittently ever since I had Vista and Win mail.
Even after Service Pack 1 and all the updates. Go to
http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx If you down load this utility you
can clear the stuck messages. Read all the instructions. It works and it's
free.

Is @live.com your only email address? Windows Mail will not work with
free Live.com/Hotmail accounts. You will have to upgrade to Windows

Sorry, I'm probably not responding to this correctly, but I'm getting an
Unsent Message in my Outbox everytime I exit MS Mail but there are no unsent
messages. What could this mean?

Sounds like you may have a corrupted account.
One thing you might try as a possible quick fix is to delete that
corrupted account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that
mail account. If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will
have to be taken.

That type of account corruption is often caused by interference from
a non-compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly intrusive antivirus programs.

If no messages are present in the WM Outbox...close WM.
If you navigate to the WM messages store folder using Windows Explorer
C:\Users\<your vista logon id>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders\Outbox
Do you see any messages with an *.eml extension in the Outbox store folder ?

Delete any files with an eml extension, do not delete or rename winmail.fol file.

sign in with my msn account e-mail address. and follow throught as if I were
getting mail in and out through msn?

Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista
