That depends on what software you are using and for what purpose. I am not
aware of any built in XP function, may be.
You might check the files in the program you used to create the file, if it
was AutoCAD, you are in luck. It does an auto-save at preset intervals. Some
other applications do as well.

You cannot have unsaved documents unless Office performed
an unexpected error and shuts down. you will get the
document when u re-open Word and it will advise whether u
want to save the document.
