Does Excell auto save data after a period of time? For instance when you have spent all morning creating a spreadsheet, you leave to go to lunch and come back and close it down without saving.

Hi
depens on your Exel version. But there's an add-in for versions prior
2002 to automatically save your work every x minutes

As far as I understand it, if you choose to close without saving, then it's
gone forever. The autosave function will only recover your work if Excel
closes due to a crash etc without giving you the option to save.

You're describing the more recent AutoRecover, rather than the older
AutoSave, which actually saves the file at selectable intervals.

So I am S.O.L. it looks like

Thanks for your help... better luck next time

You may want to get a copy of Jan Karel's addin. It might save a few tears in
the future.

(look for AutoSafe.zip, not autosafeVBE.zip, for your purposes.)

(If you were going to use excel's AutoSave, you may even like this better.)
