Unresolved IE problem?

Posted this in another group weeks ago in another group but problem never
resolved.
Currently using IE7 but problem was there in IE6 and is there on 2 PC's on
the same home network. One XP Pro/SP2, the other XP MCE, both up to date
and free of spyware and virusses.
If I download a small file it works OK but if it's a large file, most recent
was 90MB, it goes to 99% then just sits there, apparently still downloading
but never finishes.
Would appreciate a fix for this since it's very irritating and eats into my
monthly usage allowance.

I suggest using a download manager...
there are plenty of free ones out there
 
Thanks for the reply, am trying Free Download Manager at the minute.
It seems good with the advantage that it handles torrent files as well.
