unremovable small files

While I am copying small file through the network to a shared directory
(to a windowsxp pc) suddenly the network connection got down. Then I
couldn't get back the connection. I went to the computer where I try to
copy the files to and I recognized that the last file I copied is
unremovable. After a restart I could remove the file but I don't want to
restart it because I won't have the access to do it in the future.

Thanks, Laszlo Kadar.

Laszlo,

not sure if any of the solutions at
http://www.michna.com/kb/WxCannotDelete.htm applies here, but
perhaps you want to have a look.

One other thing I would try is to simply wait for a time long
enough for a TCP timeout. I don't know how long that is, could
be an hour or two.

Hans-Geor,

thanks a lot for the tips (very useful homepage). I tried the 3rd method, and it worked but I need a programable solve without any user interactivity.

Greetings, Laszlo Kadar.

Laszlo,

this could be automated. You could, for example, run a batch
file every morning.
