UNprotected & UNlocked...but can't edit

I'm not an Excel power user but do know my way around. Using OFFICE2007BETA;
I am often in Word & Outlook. But Excel isn't allowing me to edit anything
that I did in Excel2003. i.e. REVIEW|CHANGES indicates sheet is UNprotected
....and HOME|FONT|Protection|Locked has been UNchecked. Thanks for any
pointers.
 
It might have something to do with it being the beta version. Once they have
expired ( at the end of last month I think) you are very limited in what you
can do
