Unnecessary XP files.

Hi, can someone tell me what files I am able to delete in Windows XP? I have been reading that it is safe to remove all *.tmp files, but I have over 500 & 1in blue? I have found a number of programs to clean these files, but I hear a lot of these programs removing files & not placing them in the recycle bin & removing critical files, causing untold damage. Many thanks, Ian.

Ian;
You do not need a special program to delete those files.
Blue simply means Compressed.
Simply search for *.tmp
Select them all, they can all be safely deleted.
The same for the contents for any folder "Temp"
Reboot just before deleting these files to be sure an application is
not using them.
