I read an article some time ago that recommended routinely deleting all
files of these types:
*.FTS - Fast Text Search file
*.CHK - Scandisk backup file. Will be recreated.
*.GID - Created each time that you use the Help option. Disk hog.
*.TMP - Temporary files.
*.OLD - Backup file
*.~MP - Temporary files.
*.$$$ - Temp. File
*.000 - Backup File
*.ZIP - Zip file
Is this a good idea? Is there any potential danger in doing so?
