- New language: Persian thanks to Mohammad Ali 'Profesor' Mokhtari
- New language: Swedish thanks to Konrad Viltersten
- Changed the way the driver is loaded to reduce the problems linked
with services
- Improved installer comparing the MD5 of UnlockerCOM.dll if already
installed to eliminate unecessary reboots

As a side note, this release was long due, but I am very busy at the
moment with the game I am working on: Black.

The next thing I plan to work on is a x64 version.

Unlocker 1.7.6 - 17/12/2005

I am trying to locate the program that created a file called s1hx. The only
program I can think of that I installed lately is Unlocker. Could somebody
that has installed Unlocker check and see if they have a file called s1hx
(filename has no extension) on their computer.

I've just checked. No.

Nope. By that I mean there isn't any such animal on my PC,
not that I won't look for it.:)

Thanks. I guess I will just delete the file and see if anything does not
like that.

Another negative. Could you offer more details, such as which directory it
is in and the size and date created. I suggest checking for any other
files created on the same date. Also look at the properties for the
file. Another line of enquiry is to view the file in a hex editor such as
Free Hex Editor:

If you think it might be malware, try http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/ where
you can have the file checked.

As an afterthought, do you have Skype. This has been suspected of depositing
files without extensions in unexpected locations. A search in All-the-Web
brought up 48 links, I couldn't see anything relevant.

Unfortunately I have sent the file into oblivion. It was about 1.5 Kb in
size. The file date was the same day I installed unlocker and that was why
I was wondering if maybe it had been created by unlocker. Unfortunately I
did not keep track of the time I installed unlocker so I couldn't really
compare the file time to the time I installed unlocker. But it seemed
close.

It was in the root of my D: partition which is the partition I have unlocker
installed on.

I did not think about looking at it with one of my hex editors (my bad :).

My search of the web did not turn up anything either.

I will keep an eye out for the file in case it does return. It has not yet
returned.

Do any of your previous versions work with Win98SE or is this another

programs that work with Win98SE?? tia
Hello, Zo,

AFAIK, Unlocker was only for 2000/XP from the beginning. A similar
program is WhoLockMe, again only for NT/2000/XP. It seems this
functionality is not supported by DOS-based Windows.

BTW, I'm not the author of the program. Just a happy user. :)

The author is Cedrick Collomb.

CopyLock works under Win98, etc. It may not be what you are after,
inasmuch as it doesn't tell you what process is locking a file, but it
does enable you to delete the locked if you can browse to it.

Thanks Larry,

I had already downloaded both versions but was waiting a reply to this
query before trying it.
