Unlock Computer

Moe

When my PC sits idle and connected to the Internet, a
Windows XP screen appears indicating that "This computer
is in use and has been locked. Only xxx\Owner or an
administrator can unlock this computer." Then provides
the option to enter a password for Username "Owner".

I have only one PC in my house and it has only one use
set up on it.

Is this a hacker getting into my machine through the
internet or something else? How do I stop it?

Thanks,

Moe

Does this only occur when you are connected to the Internet? To solve
the issue, try this: right-click on the desktop > Properties > Screen
Saver tab. Is the "On resume, password protect" checkbox checked? If so,
uncheck it.

If the checkbox says "On resume, return to the Welcome screen" you first
have to go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log
on or off > uncheck "Use the Welcome screen." Open the Screen Saver tab
and uncheck said checkbox if it is checked. Then you can check the "Use
the Welcome screen" again.
