Unknown socket error

Hi All,

I am using Windows XP Pro with service pack1. I started to get this err
lately when trying to e-mail using a generic program.
Any ideas how to resolve this will be appreciated.

InterNet Connection FireWall is checked off. (Under Local area connection)

Connecting to SMTP server mail.xyzabc.com:25
smtp_host: mail.xyzabc.com
smtp_port: 25
smtp_user: NULL
trying_auth_method: NONE
Connect function failed.
SocketError: Unknown socket error
Failed to connect (1)
Failed to connect to SMTP server.
