Unknown data in cell when number entered

If someone could help me I would appreciate it. I have written an exce
program that calculates. When I enter a whole number into the cell an
hit return I get unknown text with the number. Ex: If I enter 5 an
hit return it shows 5E-33. Can anyone tell me why this occurs?
really don't need the extra text and numbers to appear.

Tools / Option / Edit tab : Uncheck Fixed decimal (with likely 33 as the
number of places)
