Unique problem in SP2

Installed SP2 clean in last installation. Now i have two
problems. Using FTP programs (WSFTP & FTP voyager) when I
start a Transfer the Firewall stops it, claiming its a DOS
attack (NOT).

#2 Authenticated News No longer works. It claims it cannot
connect or if it connects , the password is malformed or
unreadable. Have remove dot net framework on the advisement
of my ISP (earthlink) from an earlier session a year ago
with connection issues.

What could this be due to?

Control Panel - Windows Firewall, exceptions page, use Add to add your
FTP Programs as Exceptions
