Unique ID

Is there any way to obtain a unique ID from any mobile device? Is there
anything on a mobile device (serial number) that is accessible via code?

I'm considering even the MAC address, but some may not have them, and I'd
rather get down to device level. Do mfgrs have to provide any unique id for
each device??

Thought?
