Uninstalling

Eric

Hi,

If I am about to get a new computer and I wish to use the
Windows XP that is on my current computer, will
uninstalling it allow me to re-install and activate on
another computer? Any help would be appreciated.

If your old computer came pre-loaded with Windows XP, then there is no
way to uninstall it. If yours is an Upgrade version, you can uninstall it,
but uninstalling is not "de-activation."
Normally, when you buy a new computer, that computer is sold with the
operating system, so that when you turn it on, something happens. If you are
about to get a new computer from any sort of reputable dealer, then your new
computer will be sold with a copy of Windows XP. The only reason this might
*not* happen is if you are buying spare parts and building it yourself. In
this case, you will have two computers, but only one licensed version of
Windows XP. You will need to call Microsoft's activation number, and get a
new activation code.
