Uninstalling VMWARE 5.5.1 Causes Blue Screen Of Death in Vista

When trying to uninstall or upgrade from VMWare 5.5.1 to 5.5.3 I get a Blue
Screen Of Death. Is there anyway to uninstall this program?

Yes,

I then get the following:

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the
Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel
for assistance."
