uninstalling operating system

I installed service pack 2 and still have old operating system on computer. I would like to remove the old
system, thanks

service pack 2 is just an update. It's not a operating system.
 
fyi, now that you have updated your operating system to win xp sp2, you
really need to have a back up or a disk image because if you need to repair
windows in the future, your current cd of windows will not help you....

Not at all true. Windows can be reinstalled from the original CD and SP2
reapplied, or better, a slipstreamed CD incorporating SP2 can be made now
for possible future needs.

It's certainly good to have regular backups or disk images, but this isn't
the reason.

Oh yeh, that is very true. What i was referring to is the "repair" feature
in windows. It doesn't work if you have a windows cd sp1 and the system or
laptop has been updated with sp2. I think the repair feature is excellent.
but unfortunately, having an none windows sp2 or those "restore disks" that
come with laptops cannot repair windows.... And i dnt know about
slipstreaming sp2, yet... :]
