Uninstalled Q824145, and lovin' it

Uninstalled that nasty little nugget of code
(KB824145/Q824145) unleashed on us in the form of a
security update recently, and I'm loving how my scroll
bars and text selection are back to their old behavior.

No problems with system after uninstalling it, either.

One weird thing, the patch did not display at all under
Add/Remove programs, for whatever reason. I hunted in the
registry for the string Q824145, and found the uninstall
info for this patch in
the "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninsta
ll\ieupdate" branch.

Grabbed the text from the "UninstallString" key and ran it
from Start/Run; worked like a charm.

Thought I'd share my experience w/ y'all...

Actually, it does show up in Add/Remove Programs; it's
called "Internet Explorer Q824145."

Thanks for posting this message. I had installed the
patch, then a short time afterwards had installed AOL 9.0.
I was thinking that AOL had caused the scroll bar to go
screwey. It has been a real pain dealing with it until I
found your message & uninstalled that nasty little patch
myself. Sheesh, what a relief.
THANKS AGIN
