Hi - my husband uninstalled his monitor on his Dell C600 notebook. He has
the Windows XP disk, but never set an administrative password and is unable
to begin in Safe Mode (computer crashes when this is attempted). Is there
any way we can remedy this problem? We get black screen after windows starts
up. Thanks.

Hi Mary,

If an Administrative password, was never set up, then don't enter a
password, just press Enter Key without typing in a password.

If a Password was setup by someone else, then you can reset the
password. See this link:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;321305

Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK:
control userpasswords2
4. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then
click Reset Password.
5. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new
password boxes, and then click OK.

Leave the Password blank, unless he wants a password. Make sure to write
down the new password.

If your husband uninstall his monitor, then on a reboot into Windows XP,
Windows XP should install a Default Drivers for a monitor. Then you can
reset the Password.
