My windows 2000 professional system does no longer start up as soon as the computer on button is being activated. I recognizes that files are missing, but I am not able to reinstall the files. Non of the suggested repair functions works, Known good Installation and any one on the screen. The emergency disk does not install the missing files.
I've reinstalled the original Windows 2000 version parallel to the existing version and it starts up but I can not get back to the original setup. I baked up all documents that I had on the original setup and want to uninstall all Windows 2000 versions and reinstall Windows 2000 to get the system to work again. There is no uninstall feature on Windows 2000 and I don't know how to remove the system. If someone can. please let me know step by step on how to uninstall all Window 2000 programs. Thanks for your help. Harald.

- Boot your PC with your Win2000 CD.
- Select "Install" when prompted.
- Allow your hard disk to be formatted when prompted.

The system shows that it is corrupt and that the file <Windows 2000root> system32\ntoskrnl.exe is either missing or corrupt. It does not allow me start the system with the CD.
That's why I want to uninstall windows 2000. I tried the bulletin suggestion but somehow that does not work either. I guess I might have to buy a new computer. Let me know if you can help. Thanks, Harald.

You must get into your BIOS and set the boot order so that the machine will
boot from the CD. When you do, your hard disk and its condition becomes
irrelevant. If unsure how to get into your BIOS, consult your motherboard
manual.
