Hello,

Thanks for the tip on the link to info on uninstalling Norton SystemWorks
totally manually!

Worked perfectly. Thanks, Shenan Stanley, for the excellent tip!!

The manual method actually took just a few minutes - probably shorter than
their uninstal utility. I was so surprised.

Regards and thanks again.

Sunny

The following is a cut-and-paste of the original response (OP on 05.09.05 at
21:13). It is for NAV 2003 but towards the lower end also includes a link
for instructions for NSW 2003 :-

Can someone advise me on how to totally uninstal Norton SystemWorks
2003, short of a complete reinstall of the OS + all other software?
For little irritations, lately, too numerous to mention as well as
slowing down the system by installing new running services from
updates, I really want to get rid of it. I would look for some other
AV SW later.
I did uninstal it yesterday - the computer would not boot up after
that, except in safe mode. Luckily I clone my system drive regularly
as a back-up and was able to recover from that disaster.

I do remember reading somewhere that completely uninstalling NSW
involves more than merely using the Add/Remove Programs utility, as
NSW leaves traces of itself everywhere, or so it seems! Thank heavens
I never upgraded to the NSW 2005 SW that somebody presented me some
time ago, as yet.
