I had a problem with my windows XP,, so I reinstalled it
only to find out theat my XP cd was schratched at became
corrupt. So now I can ot get logged on to windows.
Something to do with a bad hive in the regestery. But, my
problem is that my XP cd keeps saying that my harddrive is
damaged and I can not continue the instalation. I have all
my hard drive backed up. I need to know how to uninstal xp
with out having to load windows. Is there a way to
uninstal Xp in DOS?

If you are using a fat32 file system and you have a
windows 98 or Me startup disk then you can reformat your
hard drive from the dos prompt. If you are using an ntfs
file system you cannot use a dos based startup disk
because dos does not recognise an ntfs file system.
So let's keep our fingers crossed and hope you use fat32.
If you do then insert a windows 98 or Me startup disk
into your floppy drive. If you haven't got one then
download one from www.bootdisk.com.
When you boot up with the startup disk make sure you
choose the boot with CD drivers option. This ensure
everything is available to you. When you reach the Dos
prompt (the 'A' prompt) type format c:
Assuming the drive isn't damaged, the dive should now
reformat using the fat32 file system.
After reformatting, you can attempt to reinstall xp again
from your xp cd.

Hope this helps
