Hi,

Can anyone tell me with what program/service the
following "Services" listed under that tab in
msconfig.exe are:

Cretsoecn
Arptsbrd

No-one seems to have responded to my earlier request
about what the "Proxy Desktop" or "Desktop Proxy" is.

Any input on this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

What are those -- .exe, .dll? Google doesn't come up with anything.

Hi,

I cannot identify what type of program these Services are
initiated by. There is nothing on my computer that I can
find with any reference to these terms: neither under
program name, or as a word in any file on my computer. I
also tried Google and other search engines and also did
not find any reference there.

I was hoping to find an answer here.

Thanks,

Jim

You can 'search' for the files on windows, using the search feature. Find the
program location i.e. C:\WINDOWS\ then check the file properties to ensure
its from a known publisher, if its unkown, then proceed to checking the 'date
created'. If its a date other than the install date of the OS then
investigate further. Check the Search for 'all programs' based on the date of
that file using the search. You will see all files that are created when that
file was created.

You will have a list of random files and if there in specific locations,
that are deamed to be a virus threat, then scan for viruses. Sometimes
signiture scanners do not detect new threats.
