Unhide row or column doesn't work

Hello,
I can hide row and columns normally.
The "both sides" of the hidden, Format, row/column,
unhide does not work. If I select the square above 1 and
left of A, the entire worksheet,format,row/column,unhide,
works.
I ran the Excel utility to repair and it referenced the
CD but the problem remained. I unchecked all of the add
ins but the problem remained. I have all of the Windows
XP and Office 2003 updates installed.
Any thoughts?

Obviously, you dont have a problem atall. Thats how it
actually works. Thats the way to unhide rows and coloumns
in MS Office's help books.

I do have a problem because that is not how it works. If
row 7 is hidden, Help says you highlight rows 6 and 8 and
then Format, Rows, Unhide. That does not work. Nor does
the ctrl+shift+( in Excel Inside/Out page 910.
