undoing a cell merge?

I used the 'merge and center' command now I want to undo this and return
to individual cells. How can I do this?

Select Cel
Format, Cell, select the Alignment tab
Deselect the Merge Cell optio

Just to point out that if you had data in the cells before merging and got the
message "the selection contains multiple cells with data, only the left-most
cell data will be retained" you will not get the data back, if that's what you
are after.
