undetected program

Duff Browne

I ran across AvhLbB.exe running on my system, and it
wants to talk to the internet quite a bit. Don't know
what it is. Does anyone else? AntiSpyware Beta doesn't
say it's a problem, but I don't know... I can't get the
program to submit it as a suspected spyware program, and
don't know why, but it just tells me that I need to check
proxy stuff. I have no proxy settings...

That submission feature never seems to work when I need it. OTOH, on my
clean machines it works most of the time.

If you can actually find this critter on your running system, you could
submit it to Virustotal:

http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

via the box in the upper right. This may get you a quick reading and a name
by which you can search out further removal instructions. Oftentimes a name
such as the one you've posted is, in fact, randomly constructed and unique
to a given install, and thus not googlable.

I would strongly recommend using the system explorers to look carefully at
the startup items on your machine--chances are that there are perhaps three
pieces to this critter, and you need to catch the named executable in the
startup items which perhaps creates the one you see running.

Duff,

In addition to Bill's suggestion, scan the file here :
http://virusscan.jotti.dhs.org/

If you can, please compress it to .zip format, name the .zip file
sample.zip, and send it to me. I'll send it to MS.
