underlining

how do i underline words only without underlining the spaces. ? I'm using
word 2003. I sometimes need to underline headings en-block.

I recommend you create a style. In that style, specify the following:

Format > Font > Underline Style > Words only.

Then when you apply that style to some text you will see only the text
underlined.

Ctrl+Shift+W will also apply word underline.
