I only see the underlines when I press the ALT key. How do I set it up so I
see them always?
see them always?
Uriel said:Thanks Wesley! I'd found it.
I prefer saying "Control Panel / Display / Appearance / Effects" because I
can get there without touching the mouse. (Also, I normally never see the
desktop except momentarily when booting up.)
Gratuitous comment: Too bad "Hide underlined letters for keyboard
navigation" is the default. Is that for aesthetics? I would guess it keeps
mouse-holders in the dark about the alternative.
Right click the Desktop | Properties |
Appearance tab | Effects button |
UNCheck: Hide underlined letters for keyboard navigation until I press
the Alt key | OK |Apply | OK
[[Specifies whether to suppress the drawing of keyboard shortcuts (the
underlined characters in menus and controls) and input focus indicators
(the dotted rectangles around objects), until you actually start using the
keyboard to navigate in Windows, generally with the ALT, TAB, or arrow
keys.]]

(I didn't know about
Windows key + R (for RUN)
nor about the "control color" command.)
No mouse involved with this one...
Windows key + R | Type: control color | Hit Enter
