Unauthorized access

I hope someone can help me.
As soon as I connect to the internet, my computer immediately connects to
Akamai Technologies and starts sending and receiving information. I
currently have 4 separate ip ranges for Akamai blocked, and 3 http ip ranges
blocked (one of which I had to disable to be able to access this site)
through my firewall. The process svchost.exe uses all 7 of these ranges in
an attempt to continue sending/receiving information. Windows updates is
turned off, my antivirus/spyware/firewall programs are set to manual updating
- not automatic - and I have run several scans for viruses and spyware. I
tried using a packet sniffer to to see what information was being sent
out....the only thing I could recognize was some of my bookmarks for
websites. How can I track down the originating process that is sending out
my information?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

iTunes or Quick Time updater? Apple using Akamai servers.

I seem to vaguely remember that Akamai was a mirror for Microsoft at one
point, as they were farming out their updates to allow more users to connect.
