Unaccessible Temp Directory

Mary

Hi all,

I encountered that I cannot install most software any
longer on my XP Home, because the system tells me that it
could not write into the temp directory. Actually going
to documents and settings\User\Local Settings there is
no "Temp" directory ... the other suspects such as
Application Data, Temporary Internet Explorer and History
exist. On the other hand if I want to create the Temp
directry at this position then the system tells me that
there is already one. Even if I create new accounts the
same problem exists for those as well. I have
administrator rights.

Thanks for your help,

mary

Hi,

thanks ... but it did not work ... on the other hand it
helped to get some more insight about the problem. In
effect I cannot create any folder anywhere with the
name "Temp" and if I do so the folder with the name "new
folder" that I tried to rename to "Temp" cannot be
deleted after that. What can be the reason for this
behaviour???

I am having the same issues. I believe the last thing I installed was
Ad-Aware, but I could be wrong.

Hi - since you haven't supplied the quoted original message, it's unlikely
anyone will know what you're talking about. Care to repost with more info?
