Unable to work on all tools of MS-Office though installed properl.

Actually , i have an original copy on office 2003 installed on my xp and 2000
system...
The prob is i am unable to work on any tool of it ...
eg: when i am opening any word doc and try to type somethin it says "u cant
modify the doc ids locked"
....
Actually its new doc and later when i tried some help from F1 i am unable to
get any options like "unlock doc" , "customize"... as highlighted or i.e. i
am unable to click them at all...
So pls temme the prob i am worried about it though iu bought the original
cd...
